Its location is particularly good & amazing, not far from a large park, Oakley Hall for the first time on Sunday and a coffee shop in an upmarket garden centre. The hotel's staff are very polite.
Liked everything.

The hotel is in a beautiful location in Hampshire, we enjoyed walking around the grounds. The courtyard room was very comfortable and private, and a good size with everything you would need.
The breakfast was very disappointing. It was described in the menu and on their website as being made to order, however on the day we were there it was a buffet, missing many of the items on the menu. We asked at reception and were told that when the hotel was full they opted for a buffet breakfast instead, but that you were able to order from the menu if you wanted. None of the waiters made this clear, and the service was pretty poor.

The hotel was in an absolutely picturesque area, the staff were all without exception polite, helpful and always smiling, nothing was an imposition to them. We will definately stay there again.
There was nothing negative about our stay there only the cold weather and the staff would have changed that for us if they could have.

The courtyard room was exceptional, especially liked the private parking outside the room for security. Plus the turn down service was nice as it was unexpected.
When arriving we unpacked car, when in reception where were told to repack the car and drive to courtyard block. It would be nice if either there was a sign saying checkin prior to unloading lugage or maybe a note of the book instructions.

I had been to conferences at this hotel but never stayed. The accomodation is as good as the conference rooms, with the same quality and attention to detail in everything. The house is stylish - and airy without being like an aircraft hanger as so many ex stately homes can be. The restaurant serves exellent food. There is an alternative bar menu which can be taken outside or in the lounge, or even in the bar! The hotel has a real libray with real, readable books. There is a free dvd library and excllent tv/dvd kit in the rooms, which have both aircon and good heating. Rooms are quiet with super linen, which I noticed actually belongs to the hotel.
A bit over-priced.The area suffers from an overall lack of rooms, so it takes some skill to be a third full! All rooms are in a separate courtyard requiring a windy walk to whatever part of the main building one needs. There are no instructions on using the hi-tech kit. Neither I or my colleague could make our DVDs work first night round. The staff are very helpful, but no-one fancies yet another plod to reception! Being English males I think we were too embarrased to phone and call someone out, so that bit is our fault!.

From the moment you enter Oakley Hall you are greeted with the elegance and luxury of a by-gone era combined masterfully with modern chic. From the glittering chandeliers, sumptuous library and dining areas, down to the chocolates and fruit that greet you in your room, all is done to the highest of standards. Oakley Hall is surrounded by English countryside and has the added intrigue of being frequented by Jane Austen, who lived in the nearby village of Steventon. I would, without hesitation, recommend Oakley Hall Hotel to anyone seeking a quality hotel in the countryside.
The only thing we found that Oakley Hall lacked was facilities such as a swimming pool/hot pool/exercise area etc.

Friendly staff, beautiful location, good food, very well maintained grounds and very comfortable bed.
Why only one chair in a double room? Very difficult when you order room service and one person has to eat perched on the edge of the (fairly high) bed. Not too keen on the outside walk to breakfast when the weather not too good.

We stayed in Courtyard Room 14. Our room was just amazing. Spotlessly clean. Every possible amenitity down to trouser press. Beautiful modern bathroom, big bath, heated floor. Fruit supplied which was a lovely touch. Looking out our window the grounds just beautiful - little rabbits darting here and there. Our reason for choosing Oakley House was to be close to visit Highclere Castle (setting for filming Downtown Abbey TV series). We didnt eat the hotel - ate locally at the Red Lion which was very good. Would recommend the Hotel if you want to spoil yourself

Lovely setting. An historic country house set in acres of lawn and farmland. Our stay in the "courtyard" clocktower was novel. Very comfortable, clean, modern with all amenities. The staff were most attentive and polite.
